Check native features before installing another app
List the task you need to improve and the evidence that it is a problem. A store may need better product information or a clearer navigation structure rather than another widget. Review the existing theme and platform features first.
Keep an app inventory with the purpose, owner, subscription and access it requires. Two apps solving the same problem can create confusing interfaces and unnecessary ongoing work.

Shopify Search & Discovery is an official option to review for storefront search, filters and product recommendations. Whether it fits depends on your catalogue and theme support. Test real product queries and empty-result cases before deciding the configuration is useful.
A discovery tool cannot compensate for inconsistent product names or missing specifications. Improve the underlying catalogue data and then check how the search and collection experience behaves on mobile.
Customer conversations and forms
Shopify Inbox is an official option to assess for customer chat, while Shopify Forms can be reviewed for collecting relevant customer information. Assign responsibility for responding to messages and managing any information collected.
Use the current official listings to check features, permissions and terms. Do not install a communication tool solely because another store uses it; unmonitored chat can create an expectation the business cannot meet.
Evaluate impact and exit options
Before adopting any app, test the pages it affects and document its recurring cost. Review how it stores data, what happens when it is uninstalled and whether removing it needs theme cleanup.
Keep only the tools that serve an identified purpose. Review the app list after catalogue changes or a redesign, and retest important product and cart journeys whenever a new storefront script is introduced.
