Describe the behaviour before the code
A useful request explains what the merchant or shopper needs to do, the relevant product data and the expected result. We inspect the current theme and apps to identify the smallest suitable change. A code edit should not duplicate a feature that is already supported cleanly.
Review data and interaction states
Custom sections may need settings, metafields, validation and sensible empty states. We test the affected pages with realistic content and document the change. API integrations and checkout extensions require their own access and platform review, rather than being treated as ordinary theme markup.
Agree the scope and the handover
Before implementation, we agree the pages, functionality, content responsibilities and review steps. Hosting, domains and any paid services are identified separately. The work is tested against realistic publishing and customer tasks, with routine editing explained at handover. New features and ongoing support need an explicit scope rather than an assumed unlimited commitment.
Questions before you begin
Can you add a small feature without rebuilding the store?
Often yes, after reviewing the current code and dependencies. The scope identifies the affected templates and the checks required.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Share your current website, intended audience, required pages or workflows, and any existing systems. A proposal can then separate the initial work, recurring services and any limitations.
Can I maintain the agreed content myself?
The publishing interface and the content areas you need to edit are included in the planning discussion. Routine updates are demonstrated during handover.
